Hunters shirt: Mizzen + Main | My Dress: Show Me Your Mumu
Hello Darling!
There are so many exciting steps in the engagement process, and registering is definitely one of them. Hunter and I had so much fun during our wedding registry process! So today, we thought we would share a few tips that we learned and or would have liked to have known before we were registering.
- Choose where to register– This may be a no brainer to many of you, but it is the first step of the process. After you get engaged you will most likely have many family members asking where you have registered. So, it’s great to make a list of your favorite stores you might like to register and go from there.
- Choose more than one spot– After you make a list of those stores you would like to register at, narrow them down to about two or three. It’s great to choose more than one spot to allow your guests more options.
- Make a game plan– Before you go to register it is great to make a list of items you know you need. That way when you walk into a store you do not feel super overwhelmed. One of the places Hunter and I registered at was Crate and Barrel and they actually provided a list for us when we went into the store, which was super helpful!
- Register for Items you both like– This can sometimes be the hardest part. Because let’s be honest, your future husband probably will not like your hot pink pillows. I know (silly boys). 😉 So it’s great to talk to each other before about a happy medium. Your combining and creating a life together so it’s important that you do this together and that both parties are happy with the items you choose.
- Over register– This was one of the best pieces of advice we received while registering. It’s important to register for pieces that you will use everyday but also have fun and register for pieces that you might not use everyday. In other words, do not just stick to the list you made. Have fun with your registry! 🙂
- Choose items in all price ranges– This is something I had a little bit of a hard time with. I felt bad registering for a few of those bigger items but it’s important to register for all price ranges. Your loved ones and guests want to help you start your life together so as I said above, over register and do that in all price ranges.
- Keep your space in mind– If you already know where you are going to live before you register it’s important to keep your space in mind. Will the pieces you registered for fit? Hunter and I registered before we knew where we were going to live, and now that we know I have gone back and changed the registry a bit.
- Keep updating your registry throughout your engagement– As you get closer to the wedding it’s super important to update your registry. You are going to be receiving gifts throughout your engagement and through your wedding so you will need to update your items accordingly.
- Enjoy the process– If I could give you any piece of advice it is, enjoy the process! This is something I know I have said before but it’s so important. Anything within the wedding planning process can be stressful if you overthink it, but especially with this just enjoy it! You are starting your lives together, picking out pieces that will form your home, and some that you will use for the rest of your lives. How exciting is that??
I hope you find these tips helpful, and that you enjoy this process!
Do you have any registry tips that you would like to share?
