Hello Darling,
It is so hard to find the words to express what this past week has been like. It has been absolutely heartbreaking to see the city I have now called home, for the past year, so devastatingly rocked. Hunter and I are so grateful and blessed to report that we are safe and our apartment has been untouched by the flood. Unfortunately, that is not the case for most in Houston. So many of our loved ones have been evacuated and rescued from their homes, and have lost everything.
As I am writing this I am looking out the window to a gorgeous sunny day. Though the rain has stopped the journey has just begun. There is so much work to be done in Houston and the Texas Coast. So today, I am sharing ways that you can help all those who have been affected by Hurricane Harvey.
Monetary donations
American Red Cross: Text HARVEY to 90999 and you’ll have made a $10 donation, which you’ll see on your next phone bill.
Houston Food Bank: Has provided a way to monetarily give here
JJ Watt Houston Flood Relief Fund: Houston Texans football player JJ Watt has created a fundraiser for the Houston Flood Relief.
Rebuild Rockport Church: This one is near and dear to my heart. My friend and fellow blogger, AshLee Fraizers dad is the pastor at Assembly of God Church in Rockport, TX. Their church was destroyed by the hurricane and Ashley has started a gofundme where you can give to help rebuild their church, here.
SPCA: So many sweet animals need help too! The SPCA of Texas is taking in thousands of animals from shelters across Texas that have been affected by Harvey. You can donate here to help.
Texas Baptist Men: Accepting online donations here or text HURRICANEHARVEY TO 73256. They are supplying laundry and shower units to shelters on the coast, feeding first responders, providing childcare to shelters and more.
United Way of Greater Houston: Has provided a way to monetarily give here
Physical Donations
AirBNB: If you live within driving distance to Houston or the Texas Coast, you can host someone by listing your home on Airbnb for free, with no service fees. If you have a space to share you, consider listing it to help all of those displaced individuals.
American Red Cross: The Red Cross has a registry on Amazon of items they need. You can buy them through amazon and they will be shipped directly to the Red Cross.
Food Bank: Consider giving to any food bank. If you are in Texas, you can find the closest food bank here. There is also a list of local organizations that will be able to transport your food to those in need here.
The Texas Diaper Bank: Collecting diaper donations for the Hurricane Harvey relief.
Shop and Give Back
I have rounded up a few stories, and boutiques that are selling items that 100% of the proceeds will be given to Hurricane Relief Efforts.
Calamity Jane’s Apparel: Hope In The Midst of The Storm T-Shirts and Car Decal
Houston Dynamos: Houston Strong T-Shirt. Women- here / Mens- here
Joanna Gaines and Magnolia Market: Texas Forever Shirt ( All proceeds will go to disaster relief efforts)
James Avery: Deep In The Heart of Texas Charm
Live Love GameDay: Texas Love T-Shirt
Texas Strong Harvey Relief: Texas Strong T-Shirts
Our Church
These next few weeks Hunter and I will be volunteering and serving with our church in Houston, Bayou City Fellowship. They have set up a page on their website with ways you can help the Hurricane Efforts in Houston. Whether you are looking for ways to volunteer, donate, or need a list of supplies to give you can go here to get more information.
We can’t begin to tell you how much all of your sweet messages, well wishes, and prayers have meant to both Hunter and I. Even through this emotional, and devastating week we know that the Lord has a plan, and he is our comfort in the storm. No matter your circumstance, I encourage you to give. Whether thats monetary giving, physical giving, or just sitting down to pray for all of those who have been affected. We love you and if there is anyway that we can be praying for you during this time, please let us know.
YOU ARE SO LOVED!
XOXO,Tay
